About Canadian Money Guide
What We Do
Canadian Money Guide helps Canadians make smarter money decisions — at home and across borders.
We publish clear, research-driven guides and comparisons covering:
- Saving and budgeting
- Banking and credit cards
- Debt management and credit
- Investing and retirement planning
- Mortgages and housing
- International money transfers
Every piece of content on this site is built from publicly available data: official rates, published fees, product terms, government guidance, and verified user feedback. We aggregate, compare, and explain — so you can choose with confidence.
Who's Behind This
Canadian Money Guide is led by G.D. Sterling, CFA — a personal finance researcher with a background in Canadian banking and investment management. Sterling has spent years analyzing Canadian financial products, regulatory frameworks, and tax-advantaged accounts.
Our research team includes professionals with backgrounds in finance, economics, and data analysis who have worked across Canadian banking, investment management, and financial publishing.
We chose to operate as a research-driven publication rather than a personal brand because:
- Consistency: Our methodology produces the same quality regardless of who's behind the keyboard
- Scalability: We can cover more topics, faster, with a team
- Objectivity: No personal anecdotes or biases colour our comparisons — every recommendation follows the same evidence-based process
Our Approach
We're not financial advisors. We don't know your personal situation, and nothing on this site should be taken as personalised financial advice. Instead, we:
- Synthesise publicly available information into clear comparisons
- Explain personal finance concepts using Canadian-specific guidance and examples
- Point you to the official sources so you can verify for yourself
- Maintain transparency about how we research and how we earn money
Every comparison and guide on this site follows the same process:
- Gather current data — we pull rates, fees, and terms directly from provider websites and official documentation. Rates are verified manually against primary sources, not scraped automatically.
- Compare objectively — we use consistent criteria across all products in a category. No cherry-picking features to make one product look better.
- Cite sources — every claim about a rate, fee, or policy includes a reference to the original source. If you want to verify, the citation is right there.
- Update regularly — rates and product terms change. Content that's more than 30 days old is flagged for review. Major rate changes trigger immediate updates.

Our Commitment to Accuracy
We take accuracy seriously. Every rate, fee, and policy claim is verified against primary sources before publication. When we make a mistake — or when rates change — we correct it within 48 hours and log it publicly.
How We Make Money
We participate in affiliate programs with some financial institutions. When you click a referral link on our site and open an account, we may receive a commission — at no extra cost to you. For example, if you open an EQ Bank account through our link, EQ Bank pays us a referral fee. You get the same rates and features you'd get by going directly.
This is how we keep the site free. We don't run display ads from ad networks we don't control. We don't sell your data. We don't charge for access. Our revenue comes entirely from affiliate partnerships where we've independently verified that the product is worth recommending.
Every partner link is disclosed on the page where it appears. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains this in detail.
